Catherine Hartshorn, Ph.D., LCSW, LMFT (Berkeley, CA and Online in CA) Level II Certification

Yes, I am good enough!
I know it…my body knows it…and it’s been hard-won!

I grew up with a narcissistic mother. Then, before I could heal the childhood damage, I found another narcissist – this time, to marry.

I used the divorce and custody disputes to change the direction of my life. I stopped the abusive patterns with my generation, and have created a loving, long-term marriage and healthy relationships with my children.

My experience preceded Dr. McBride’s book, but in hindsight, I used her model to heal myself and I deeply understand its power.  I now use it with my clients.

These experiences give me the skills and empathy to be certified by Dr. Karyl McBride in WIEBGE (Will I Ever Be Good Enough), a 5-step recovery program for adult children of a narcissistic parent.

I specialize in working with adults whose parents were neglectful or abusive. Dr. McBride calls healing “the infernal work.”  Feeling your pain and grieving what you didn’t get is horrendously difficult, but I am with you through the process.  I support you as you dare to shift your alliances, your self-image and your life.

In addition to talk therapy, I use Sandplay as a tool to work more deeply and effectively with clients.  I provide brief therapy to navigate Life Transitions, such as career/work decisions, relationship issues, divorce, or health crises.
