As a Marriage & Family Therapist in Los Angeles, I work primarily with individual adults. I specialize in working with depression, shame, anxiety, relationship problems, childhood trauma, divorce, self-harm, and isolation.
When I first read Dr. McBride’s book ‘Will I Ever Be Good Enough?’ I realized that I wasn’t ‘making it all up’ and that it wasn’t my fault. It was incredibly validating and encouraging to learn that I was not alone in my experience of living with a narcissistic family dynamic. Dr. McBride’s training has given me the opportunity to offer that same validation and understanding to patients who have suffered at the hands of narcissistic parents. That understanding is the beginning of the path to recovery, and I feel so honored to be able to journey that with those who need it.
Throughout my life, I have been driven by the impulse to ‘figure things out.’ I began my career as a teacher and after a number of years in the classroom, I came to see that the single most important factor in anyone’s life was the parent/child relationship. When that relationship represents trauma, lack of empathy and even cruelty, the impact lasts long past childhood. I left teaching to become a psychotherapist, and have fallen in love with this field. Psychotherapy is the ultimate vehicle for figuring things out. It is the path to recovery and to reclaiming yourself.
In addition to being trained in Dr. McBride’s 5-Step program, I have also completed a two-year training at the New Center for Psychoanalysis and am certified as a level-II anger management specialist. I also hold a master’s degree in Education.
