Being the adult child of a parent with Narcissistic Personality Disorder (NPD) or Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) is extremely challenging. These adult children become developmentally interrupted, often ending up in destructive relationships, out of touch with their own needs, and/or developing other destructive behavior and coping mechanisms. When the root cause is discovered and defined, it gives the client the opportunity to understand, accept and grieve the cumulative wounding. This in turn will create a safe internal space to define and develop the original core self and complete the interrupted developmental work, enabling the client to act upon the world instead of falling victim to the world acting on them.
