For over 20 years I have been practicing as a Marriage and Family Therapist in Marin County. I specialize in marriage/couples, codependency, childhood trauma, adult children of narcissistic parenting, anxiety & depression for couples, individuals, and teens. Many of the areas I work in are focused on narcissistic relationships and the effects and/or symptoms of being a part of a narcissistic dynamic. Being the daughter of a narcissistic mother who abandoned the family at age 12, and being a part of a narcissistic family dynamic propelled me to read Dr. Karyl McBride’s book “Will I Ever Be Good Enough”. The book was validating and relieving to me personally and professionally. I became trained and certified in Dr. McBride’s 5-step recovery model because I found it an invaluable tool to reclaiming your emotional life. It gave me an effective way to not only identify & validate an adult daughter’s feelings, but it allows for a clear path to healing and happiness. What surprises me the most about individuals I work with towards narcissistic healing is that they often don’t realize that what they experienced was emotional trauma.

Additional theories & approaches I am trained in besides Dr. McBride’s 5-step program are Family Systems, Attachment theory, Positive psychology, and Solution-Focused Therapy. My client’s needs and issues are what guides me in determining what approach to use. My clients have said they experience me as empathic, interactive, non-judgmental, and warm. When recovering from a self-serving, narcissistic mother, in therapy we will:

• Create an individualized plan for recovery from the emotional abuse.
• Create awareness & understanding of your narcissistic parent’s behavior and your painful experience with them.
• Become aware of internalized negative messages.
• Have a safe place to release feelings and talk about your experience.
• Create a unique recovery path centered around empathy.
