I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (licensed in VA, MD and DC) who has been in practice for over 30 years. I have a private practice in Fairfax, Virginia for adults from 18 years and up.
I have been a paneled therapist with Dr. McBride’s Daughters of Narcissistic program since 2007 and have recently been recertified as a therapist working with Daughters (and sons) of Narcissistic Mothers (parents).
I am also certified in EMDR (trauma reprocessing) and as a Complex Trauma Therapist. I see individuals both in person and online.
I also work with adults struggling with anxiety/mood disorders, learning/behavioral challenges, life transitions (including work with new and seasoned parents), and reworking of family of origin roadblocks. I also specialize in recovery from all types of traumatic experiences – – large or small. This could be present day trauma and loss issues or unresolved trauma from the past.
Family of origin issues, including being a child of a narcissistic mother or father, greatly impacts how someone manages day to day, copes with crisis, and interacts with a partner/friends or a family of her own. I have always been mystified how this attachment trauma interferes with one’s life, in terms of relationships, work and happiness.
I was trained at the Kennedy Krieger Pediatric Trauma Unit to help those with this inter-generational trauma – including verbal, physical and sexual abuse. I believe that having a greater understanding of one’s family of origin, the strengths and weaknesses, creates a narrative of one’s past. This framework ensures a greater success with relationships, with a job, and supports one for the bumps life brings us all.
I often receive referrals from adults experiencing issues with their parents, as well as, struggles with their spouse, friends or family. I can help you explore and heal through all the steps that Dr. McBride has encouraged, beginning with the most important one- – Acceptance and Grief.
